Established by Jose Gener in 1865, the name roughly means “valley of Monterrey,” a particularly fertile site in the Vuelta Abajo, which had been farmed by Gener since at least 1860. The brand offers a lighter flavour and a wide range of sizes, the largest of which are much celebrated. The Le Hoyo series cigars was introduced about 1970 and presents a stronger flavour.

One of the best prominentes ever made, as many of the formats from Hoyo de Monterrey, strong, with convincing aroma and taste and greasy. New Habanos can be said to have learnt from this stick, spongier than Lusitanas and Doble Coronas from Punch, it looks even bigger when you have one of them in your hand.

Completely hand-made with tobacco leaves coming from Vuelta Abajo, this Robusto cigar, with excellent burn, is the last product from Hoyo de Monterrey. With a smooth strength, it has an intense tobacco taste, blended with cocoa, cinnamon and dried fruits.
